Asian Consortium for Computational Materials Science (ACCMS) has entered into 12th year of its existence. Six successful conferences and six general meetings of virtual organization have boosted the computational materials research in the Asian region. In order to optimally utilize our resources and manpower, it is widely felt that we should have theme meetings on the emerging areas of materials simulation. Scientists not only from Asian region but also from all around the world had exchanged their state-of-the-art research results in the previous working group/theme meetings in Japan, 2006 (on clusters and nanomaterials) and in Singapore, 2008 (on hydrogen storage materials), in Korea, 2011 (on Nanodevice simulations).

Advent of Graphene with a plethora of unique properties and enormous application potential has resulted in a new paradigm of 2D materials having properties that can redefine the landscape of nanodevices. In view of the rapidly growing research on graphene and related 2D materials, the theme meeting “ACCMS Theme Meeting on 2D Nanostructures: Graphene and Beyond” (TM2DS2012) will be held in India. The scope of this meeting will encompass fundamentals as well as application including mechanical, electronic, chemical magnetic and optical properties, device fabrication, integration & applications, for sustainable technologies. This Conference will have special session aimed at young researchers, covering some pedagogic level talks on the physics of 2D materials with possible applications. There will be invited as well as contributed talks from international and national experts, along with a poster session by participants.

Topics covered will include (but not limited to) the electronic properties, quantum transport, device modeling, microscopy, graphene chemistry, magnetism & spintronics, sensors and other devices of quasi 2D sheets

  • Graphene and its various functionalized derivatives
  • h-BN, BNC and other hybrids, TM chalcogenides
  • 2D network of polymers
  • Structurally and chemically tailored systems

Deadline for Submission of Abstracts : June 23rd, 2012
